How do I flatten warped Pokémon cards?

Warped Pokémon cards should be flattened slowly using gentle, even pressure. Avoid heat, steam, irons, hairdryers or heavy objects that apply pressure unevenly. A controlled card flattening kit with soft mats, plates and clamps can help distribute pressure more safely.

Can warped trading cards be fixed?

Some warped or curved cards can be improved, especially if the issue is caused by humidity or storage conditions. However, flattening will not repair creases, dents, tears, peeling or damaged card stock.

Can cleaning improve a PSA, BGS or CGC grade?

Cleaning may improve presentation if a card has removable dust, fingerprints or light surface grime. It does not guarantee a higher grade and cannot fix structural damage, whitening, creases or deep scratches.

Are card cleaners safe for holo cards?

Holographic cards should always be handled carefully. Use soft microfibre tools, minimal liquid and light pressure. Avoid harsh chemicals or household cleaners. Older, rare or damaged holo cards should be treated with extra caution.

How do I remove fingerprints from Pokémon cards?

Use a clean microfibre cloth or card-safe cleaning tool with very light pressure. Do not scrub aggressively and do not soak the card. Always work slowly and allow the card to dry fully before sleeving.

What should I avoid when cleaning trading cards?

Avoid alcohol wipes, bleach, acetone, household sprays, paper towels, rough cloths, excessive liquid and heavy rubbing. These can damage gloss, print surfaces and card stock.

What is the best way to store trading cards?

For basic protection, use penny sleeves. For stronger protection during storage or shipping, use rigid toploaders or semi-rigid holders. Store cards in a dry, stable environment away from heat, humidity and direct sunlight.

Penny sleeves vs toploaders: what is the difference?

Penny sleeves protect against surface scratches, dust and handling marks. Toploaders add rigid protection against bending and impact. Many collectors use both together: sleeve first, then place the sleeved card inside a toploader.

How should I prepare cards for grading?

Inspect the card under good lighting, remove removable dust or fingerprints carefully, check for warping, sleeve the card and place it into a semi-rigid holder or appropriate protective holder. Do not attempt aggressive cleaning or repairs before submission.
